Beginning Wheel Throwing: September 2025

$200.00

Join Fr. Theophan Mackey for a beginning wheel throwing class in September.

In this class, students will learn to wedge and prepare the clay, center the clay, and pull basic shapes. Depending on the students and their progress in the class, students may also be taught other basics such as pulling handles, trimming, and other finishing techniques. The students may finish the course with one or two completed pots, but a completed piece is not necessary to finish the class program.

Each student will be provided with clay during their class and guided on use of a ceramics studio with regards to safety and cleanliness. Please leave jewelry at home, or be prepared to safely store any rings or necklaces. Long hair should be pulled back off the face and it is recommended that nails be trimmed prior to throwing.

Each student should bring an apron or have clothing they are comfortable getting messy. Closed toed shoes are required in all Fuller Lodge Art Center Studios. Students will also be able to work independently throughout the month. A key for access during operating hours is available at the front desk of the Fuller Lodge Art Center gallery and gift shop.

Students receive 1 hour of studio time per hour of class but must attend during open hours so staff can unlock the doors. You must sign in before each studio session and at teh start of your class. A survey will be sent to students at the end of each class period, we hope you will help us plan our next round of classes by completing this survey. Students must successfully complete two ceramics classes, or be cleared by LAAC before signing up for studio memberships in the fall.
