After School!

After School Art Studios are a great way to get your kiddos creative energy flowing! These studios are part of a program supported by a grant from the Los Alamos Community Foundation and Anchorum Community Health.

These studios are designed to let kids and teens from 1st-12th grade explore whatever they're interested in, with guidance and support from our Studio Coordinator, Hannah R. Kids can work on projects they bring with them, use the supplies provided, or come with an idea and get support from staff and peers. We know that kiddos are under more pressure to be "perfect" in today's modern school setting; we hope to give them a place to explore the ups and downs of a project that doesn't turn out just right and to explore new ways to build mindful and resilient artists!

Please be sure to carefully read the descriptions and dates on the website for more times and details.
-Monthly via our CAP membership program (suspended for April)
-By getting punchcards for three, six, or 10 sessions. Punch cards are good for 90 days from date of purchase and kids can come to any open session afterschool (again, please see the dates to make sure there is a session the day your kiddo comes!!)

New for April and May: We have heard your desire for more opportunities to make art in the studio with the kiddos! In the months of April and May, we will make Mondays "family days" where guardians are welcome to attend with their student's registration. The after school programs Tuesday-Friday will be reserved for students only (1st-12th grade). If we find that there is a desire for more family studio times, we will look at adding those days in the new school year and please make sure to check out our whole education catalog for other all ages activities and programs.

For April, we can offer five days a week Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5 PM. (We will not be able to offer studios from April 22nd-April 28th.

April Themed Days!

In April, select days will have special themes and projects that we can’t wait to do with your student! Check it out:

- 4/7: Bugs: We will take a quick walk outside to find inspiration from any critters we see, then return to the classroom to rebuild them from clay, fabric, or beads.

- 4/9: Wearable art: We will decorate or create paper hats, masks or headbands to flaunt our style and favorite colors in craft form.

- 4/14: Nature printing: We will go outside to forage for fun leaves, rocks, twigs and other such items to create fun landscapes with forms straight from nature herself.

- 4/16: Under the sea: We will create sea/river/lake globes with recycled jars and other fun knick-knacks.

-4/21: Fiber fans: We'll delve into the world of fiber art by creating hanging wall art out of yarn and sticks found outside.
